Fireworks in Dance Theatre

It's been a long time since GENUS felt like GENUS. Seriously, the vibes that I get when the ensemble plays Spring Overture is really different from Handel Concerto and Capriol Suite. Everyone is just more "into" the music. Perhaps it's just that the players have yet to appreciate the beauty of the latter two pieces? Anyway, it definitely feels good to hear a confident sound.

I have a collossial job of making sure my piccolo part is in tune, seemingly harder. Doesn't help when the guitars are non-sustaining instruments. 3 weeks to get it sorted out.

hehe.. lets hope the "Genus Genie" does its job once again - so that when it comes to the concert, everything will be either good, or great!

i too was rather impressed with the Spring sound, though i didnt stay long enuff to hear the Percussion group play. I guess part of the reason why it ensemble sounded more "alive" is due to the fact that Spring itself is a festive/jovial kinda music. So once the notes, and tempo are more or less in place, the piece comes alive (in a sense).

Capriol actual is also quite interesting, given the mix of solemn and playful tunes. Perhaps the ensemble has yet to capture the little details that bring out the spirit of the song.

Handel... well, what can i say? :PP serious serious stuff.. and though i havent heard it for some time, my guess would be that it is the least rehearsed piece of the lot. (correct me if i'm wrong here) Audience will feel they have a long nite ahead, after they are finished with Handel :)

Perhaps, there is another insomnia treatment here besides the organ.
