Anyone knows the dates for the workshops in the 6th International Guitar Festival 2006???
Seems like brochures and websites have no information on them. Rather keen to go for the workshop on ensemble playing really.

(Chatting with Wai about Pictures at an Exhibition, the Great Gate of Kiev)
Suitcase: We could break a few guitars for some loud chords at the start.
(gentle smiles from both Wai and myself)
5 seconds lapsed.
Suitcase: Hey you thought of distributing or selling your scores?
Owls: Sell? Must look for a publisher right?
Suitcase: No need lah... just sell directly or distribute. My students wants to play your arrangement of......
Owls: Ask them to join Genus next time! then they got chance to play loh! Hahaha!

Gig at Esplanade concourse
想办法
I have a hard time getting one of my students to understand intervals.
For instance, it seems she simply does not register the difference between a major 3rd or a minor 3rd, visually or aurally. And she counts by semi-tones! Though I do not recommend that, it seems like she remembers intervals through this tedious counting.
It would seem alright at first, since it temporarily solves the interval problem, but alas, the enharmonic errors will surface when the keys get more cluttered with sharps or flats. By counting semi-tones, one may recognise C to Bb as an augmented 6th instead of a minor 7th and vice versa.
My method is to go through key recognition, but her key identification is not very accurate. and much as she is weak in intervals, so is the understanding of major/minor scales and tonality.
Have to find a way to settle this!

The suitcase man
Heard from the guys that the suitcase man is back in action again.
I've never had any conflicts with him. I've always thought he's just a bit too business-minded/practical/goal-oriented; well nothing harmful if your basic morals are upheld. The old man told me about the suitcase affair and that shed a bit more light on his personality.
Frankly, I think he's a afraid of rejection. Hence, the reluctance to come clean with his objectives to people around him. People are not stupid these days, so unless you are ultra good at covering your tracks, you'll be found out one of these days. If the suitcase man wants to go far, I really think he needs to examine this aspect.
Well folks, beware of your suitcase!
